Thousands of websites have been defaced in Netherland and Belgium after their domain registrars was hacked. Accoeding to report The Foundation for Internet Domain Registration (.NL) in the Netherlands (SIDN) was hacked and some malicious files were uploaded to the server by hackers. SQL injection vulnerability was used to hack one of the website on same server initially, that allowed hacker to temporarily access to the domain name registration system.
On the same day several Belgium websites also got defaced by another group of hackers. Domain Registrar behind Belgium i.e DNs was compromised by attackers.The hackers were able to infiltrate and modify a DNS server, pointing all of the websites to a single website displaying the deface message. The authorities immediately deleted the deface files and took the necessary precautions to block further malicious access to the website.
